Les Miserables

Les Miserables at Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

Some shows arrive with spectacle; others pull you in because the story keeps pressing on the heart. Theatre Tulsa's Les Misérables at the Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center on January 15, 2027 at 8:00 PM offers that kind of pull. In an intimate 421-seat room, the musical's scale can feel personal, which makes its themes of redemption, justice, and survival especially compelling for an evening out in Tulsa.

Based on Victor Hugo's novel, this production centers on Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert, two figures locked into a 19th-century story of moral conflict and hard-won grace. The score by Claude-Michel Schönberg, with lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and a book by Alain Boublil and Schönberg, has helped make the musical a lasting favorite for audiences who want strong emotion paired with memorable theatrical craft. If you are drawn to works that carry real dramatic weight, this one has a reputation built on depth rather than emptiness.

Part of Theatre Tulsa's Broadway Series and its locally produced musical lineup, the production also reflects a company that identifies itself as Oklahoma's largest and longest-running non-profit theatre company. That local connection matters in a title as widely known as this one, because it frames the evening as both a classic musical experience and a community presentation inside Tulsa's performing arts scene.
