Les Miserables

Les Miserables at Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

A classic musical can feel especially vivid when it lands in an intimate room, and that is part of the appeal of Theatre Tulsa's Les Misérables. At the Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center on January 16, 2027 at 8:00 PM, the story's scale meets a 421-seat venue, creating the kind of close-range theatre experience that keeps every turn of the drama within reach. For anyone planning a shared night out with a friend who likes sweeping stage stories, this is a strong place to start.

Based on Victor Hugo's novel, Les Misérables follows Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert through an epic 19th-century redemption story shaped by justice, pursuit, and moral pressure. Its score, with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and a book by Alain Boublil and Schönberg, has made it a defining work of musical theatre. The story is familiar to many audiences, but that familiarity is part of the draw: it gives listeners and theatregoers a chance to return to big ideas and watch them unfold live, with every scene anchored in character and consequence.

This production also carries the imprint of Theatre Tulsa, which presents it as part of its Broadway Series and locally produced musical lineup. The company identifies itself as Oklahoma's largest and longest-running non-profit theatre company, a detail that speaks to the depth of its presence in the city's stage scene. For audiences browsing stage shows around Tulsa, that combination of a landmark musical and a trusted local producer makes the date especially appealing.
