Les Miserables

Les Miserables at Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

Some musicals are built to fill a huge house; Les Misérables also thrives on closeness, which makes the 421-seat Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center a compelling place to see it. Theatre Tulsa presents the production in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 23, 2027 at 8:00 PM, and that pairing of a major title with an intimate room gives the evening real focus. If you enjoy theatre that leans into emotion, conflict, and human stakes, this is an especially appealing night out.

Victor Hugo's novel provides the foundation for a story that follows Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert through an epic 19th-century struggle over justice, mercy, and renewal. That tension is a big part of the musical's lasting pull: it combines a sweeping historical setting with questions that still feel immediate. The score and script, credited to music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and book by Alain Boublil and Schönberg, give the piece its familiar identity and enduring place in musical theatre.

Presented as part of Theatre Tulsa's Broadway Series and its locally produced musical lineup, the production also reflects the company's long-running presence in the city's arts community. Theatre Tulsa identifies itself as Oklahoma's largest and longest-running non-profit theatre company, which adds local weight to a story recognized far beyond Oklahoma. That blend of neighborhood roots and major theatrical material is part of the draw.

For anyone looking for Tulsa theatre performances with dramatic scope and a strong sense of place, this date belongs on the shortlist. Check the ticket listings for this performance and see how it fits your January plans.
