Modest Mouse

Modest Mouse at Cains Ballroom

Modest Mouse brings its restless, angled indie rock to Cains Ballroom on December 7, 2026, at 6:45 PM, and that combination alone gives this Tulsa concert real pull. The band has spent decades shaping a sound that can feel twitchy and punchy one moment, then spacious and reflective the next, which makes the music rewarding even before you know every song by name. If you like artists who keep a little tension in the room, this is a name worth following through concerts in Tulsa.

Formed in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington, Modest Mouse earned mainstream recognition after years in the underground scene, and that long climb still fits the way the group sounds: sharp, oddball, and very much its own thing. The band is known for mixing punk energy with a more atmospheric, simmering approach, a balance that helped make Good News for People Who Love Bad News a major breakthrough and brought Grammy recognition along with it. Earlier work like The Moon and Antarctica helped define its major-label era, while later releases such as We Were Dead Before the Ship Sank and the current album An Eraser and A Maze show an ongoing catalog that keeps moving.

That mix of hooked-up intensity and open-ended mood is a big part of the appeal. Some listeners are drawn to the jagged edge, others to the more reflective stretch in the writing, and plenty of people enjoy both. If you want a concert that feels smart, a little off-center, and built around a band with a distinct identity, this date belongs on your radar.
