Southall at Cains Ballroom

Southall brings a heavy, wide-open Oklahoma sound to Cains Ballroom on Thursday, November 5, at 7:30 PM, and that mix alone makes this a compelling night out in Tulsa. The six-piece band includes founder Read Southall, Reid Barber, Jeremee Knipp, Braxton Curliss, John Tyler Perry, and Ryan Wellman, and their style pulls from country, rock, metal, and more without feeling boxed in by any one label. For a friend who likes music with grit and shape, that blend makes for an easy yes.

Part of the appeal is how much ground Southall covers while still sounding singular. Their self-titled album has been described as a raw and explosive release on Smoklahoma Records, while For the Birds adds the long-form single Where We Belong and the standout track Rose Gold. Borrowed Time includes the RIAA Gold-certified Why, and Apple Music lists the band under the Southall name with 2023's I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell in its catalog. That range gives listeners a lot to explore before the show, especially if you like bands that move between muscle, melody, and atmosphere. It also gives the evening a conversation-starting edge, since there is enough material to compare and enough variety to keep different tastes engaged.

The pairing with special guest The Ransom Brothers adds another reason to pay attention to this local concert date. If you and a friend enjoy acts that feel rooted in regional identity but reach beyond a single lane, this bill fits the mood.
