Nuns at The Vanguard - OK

The Nuns bring a sharp, lean charge to The Vanguard on Friday, November 06, 2026, at 8:00 PM, and that alone should catch the ear of anyone drawn to the raw edge of late-seventies underground music. Formed in San Francisco in 1977, the band quickly became one of the city's leading punk and new wave attractions, a reputation that still gives their name a certain snap and urgency. For listeners who like music with attitude, tension, and a little wit in the wiring, this is an easy show to imagine wanting on your calendar.

Part of the appeal is how their story points to a scene built on speed, instinct, and personality. AllMusic tags their sound with punk, new wave, alternative, and new wave variants, which suggests a band that sits in the restless space between styles rather than settling into one lane. That kind of range tends to reward listeners who appreciate music that feels agile and slightly unruly, where the hooks matter but the mood matters too.

The band's single Savage and Suicide Child stands out in their recorded history, and their work also appeared on compilations including Rodney On The Roq and Experiments In Destiny. Those details help place The Nuns in the wider conversation around the era: a group with a distinct identity, enough visibility to travel beyond its hometown, and a sound that still invites curiosity.

If your taste runs toward music with grit, history, and a clean line of rebellious energy, this date belongs on your radar. Check the Tulsa concert listing for The Nuns at The Vanguard and see where the ticket options lead.
