Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker

Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker at Chapman Music Hall at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

A familiar holiday story takes on real stage presence in Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker, where snowy atmosphere, clear storytelling, and classical movement come together in a way that feels especially fitting for December. This performance is at Chapman Music Hall at Tulsa Performing Arts Center on Sunday, December 06, 2026 at 2:00 PM, and it offers a polished afternoon for anyone who likes ballet that is easy to follow and rich in visual detail.

The appeal starts with the story itself. Young Marie's Christmas Eve journey through 19th-century Germany gives the ballet a strong narrative spine, while the Nutcracker Prince, the Mouse King, and the Sugarplum Fairy bring the familiar world of the production into view. Choreographed by Val Caniparoli and Ma Cong, the work gives a beloved holiday title a shape that feels both grounded and active onstage. That balance matters for audiences who enjoy dance as storytelling, where gesture, movement, and character all help carry the evening forward.

Tulsa Ballet also brings its own identity to the production. The company describes its artistic roots as blending classical dance with dramatic theatre, and that connection gives this holiday favorite a broader theatrical appeal than a simple seasonal presentation. In live theatre, that combination can make a well-known ballet feel freshly engaging without losing what audiences already love about it.
