Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker

Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker at Chapman Music Hall at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

On Friday, December 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM, Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker brings a familiar winter story to Chapman Music Hall at Tulsa Performing Arts Center with the kind of clear storytelling that gives a holiday night real shape. Young Marie's Christmas Eve journey through 19th-century Germany, along with the Nutcracker Prince, the Mouse King, and the Sugarplum Fairy, gives the ballet a cast of characters that audiences can recognize immediately and follow with ease.

What gives this production its appeal is the way Tulsa Ballet approaches the material. The company describes its artistic roots as blending classical dance with dramatic theatre, and that blend fits a work where movement has to carry both feeling and plot. Choreography by Val Caniparoli and Ma Cong helps frame the ballet as a polished stage experience with strong narrative momentum, making it inviting for viewers who enjoy dance that communicates as much through expression as through form.

For anyone browsing theatre performances in Tulsa during the season, this title stands out because it balances tradition with performance craft. The story is well known, yet it keeps its pull through the atmosphere of a holiday setting and the enduring presence of its central figures. Tulsa Ballet says it is regarded as one of the top ballet companies in North America, which adds further interest for audiences seeking a winter performance with established artistic stature.
